THE roles have been cast, lines memorised and the stage is set for the latest show from the Alloa Musical Players (AMP).
The voluntary organisation – which aims to get the local community involved in musical theatre – is bringing Rodgers and Hammerstein’s show South Pacific to the stage this week.
It kicked off last night (Wednesday) at Alloa Town Hall.
June Kean, president of AMP, said: “We are now in full swing with our production of South Pacific, one of the jewels of musical theatre. The months of hard work at rehearsals have now paid off and the excitement back stage is infectious.
“We look forward to taking you our audience to the island of ‘Bali Hai’ for ‘Some Enchanted Evening’ where you will experience some ‘Happy Talk,’ in the company of a woman named ‘Bloody Mary’ who is not ‘Younger Than Springtime’.” The company is up to full strength with the introduction of three youthful members to the ensemble – Olivia Darwin, Symantha McCallum and Maddy Coles.
Chris Cairns takes on the role of Emile, Lesley Kettles is Nellie, Alan Musgrave Lt Cable, Cairy McNeill Liat and Leona Reiter is Bloody Mary.
The show will run from today (Wednesday 4 March) until Saturday (7 March).
