RESONATE Arts House is a community-led, volunteer-run, profit for good organisation.

It aims to grow trust between individuals to inspire positive action throughout Clackmannanshire and its drive is building social resilience within society.

The group began four years ago when a few local people decided to take a risk and self-fund a venue, with the hope that residents could connect and that it would create positive opportunities for the county.

Executive director Angela Beardsley said looking back it was a real “community experiment”.

She explained: “When we began, word went out that we were trying ‘something’, so people came and joined in. From young to retired, all backgrounds, all abilities, people just started to connect and through this open, holistic, listening and trusting approach, a great deal of action has taken place.

“Resonate has developed into a platform to support individuals to progress. Or, as with so many people, if someone feels they need to find themselves, build their confidence and connect with like minded people, then Resonate’s friendly, and supportive environment seems to create an atmosphere of ‘what if’, it is very positive.” Resonate – situated at North Castle Street in Alloa – is about teamwork and the efforts of the volunteers have been recognised by the Citizen of the Year nomination.

Angela said: “All the team are so pleased, because for local people to volunteer, to come together, to work in developing the business strands of Resonate to pay for itself so we can develop the support of positive growth in Clackmannanshire is truly amazing. I feel very lucky to be involved in such an awesome ‘community family business’.”
