AN ALLOA couple have celebrated a special milestone – their diamond wedding anniversary.
Thomas and Teresea Hamilton marked their union on Saturday 21 February surrounded by friends and family, 60 years after marrying.
The couple have been a winning team since long before they wed in St Margaret of Scotland RC Church in Cambusbarron, in 1955.
They met through a love of dancing and were paired up as partners for seven years prior to their union.
Part of the team at Stirling Plaza, they danced competitively for a number of years – securing a few prestigious titles along the way.
The secret to their long-lasting marriage, Thomas said: “Just be understanding of each other’s problems, more or less, over the years and don’t got to bed in a bad temper.” During their time together the couple, who are both 87, lived in various places, including Bellshill and Aberdeen.
They arrived in the Wee County when they retired to Alva, before settling in Alloa around 22 years ago.
During their working years, Teresea was a tailoress while Thomas worked as a carpenter, shoe salesman, manager of shoe shops and a club master of various golf clubs.
The couple have three children – Shirley, Kenneth and Brian – two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
