ON SUNDAY (22 March) staff at Alloa’s Boots pharmacy took part in a sponsored 10 mile walk around the Wee County raising £700 for charity.

Nine workers took part in the walk to raise vital funds for Macmillan Cancer Support, Boots’ charity partner.

The walk started in the morning at the store in Alloa, heading towards Fishcross then Tillicoultry, finishing at the Cambus Inn in the afternoon, when the group stopped for soup, cake and a coffee.

Manager at the pharmacy, Sandra Leary, said it was great to sit down at the inn, after what was a nice and tiring walk for a good cause.

Staff raised money through sponsors, mainly friends and family, many customers also donated in-store and some of the funds came from charitable people the group met during the walk.

The manager thanked staff, customers and everyone else who was involved in the fundraising effort.

In the past four years, the company donated over £10m for the charity, which provides support for people affected by the disease.

The Alloa store plans to carry on with their fundraising efforts, and people can still help by putting money into the High Street pharmacy’s charity box.
