POLICE have detained two men following an early morning stand-off at a property in Bowhouse Gardens.

Officers in Alloa were called to the scene at around 2am yesterday (Tuesday 31 March) to investigate what they described as a 'disturbance’.

They later became embroiled in negotiations with one of the males inside.

However, operational policy dictates that a more significant police presence is required to tackle such situations.

A total of eight police units were spotted in and around the area along with patrols to reassure the nearby community.

The entrance to Bowhouse Gardens was taped off by uniformed police as the situation unfolded just yards from Alloa Academy.

An ambulance incident response unit was also brought into the street as a further precaution.

Previously, Police Scotland issued a statement saying a male had been causing a disturbance in the house and was refusing to exit.

They then said they were working to 'resolve this incident peacefully’ before later announcing that officers had detained two males shortly after 11am.

The age and identity of those currently in custody has not yet been released.
