Fife Decorative and Fine Arts Society (FDFAS) visited Alloa’s Gean House last month where they took part in an interesting tour of the house and the grounds before finishing the afternoon with a cup of tea.

Twenty-three ladies attended the event and the organiser of visits for FDFAS, Jean Melville, was delighted with the successful afternoon. She said: “We were made to feel most welcome in a real country-house environment with an interesting tour to see the house and we were also shown the fabulous rooms which have been retained in the original style with leaded windows, beautiful cornices, wood panelling and inglenook fireplaces, some crackling with toasty fires “The rain stayed off to allow us to appreciate the layout of the original garden and attention to detail. The tea was quite delicious and thanks to Elaine and staff for their kindness in having us.” Elaine Bowie, events coordinator at Gean House, added: “It was a delight to show the ladies round and answer their questions. I have a keen interest in the history of Gean House and the Paton Family who lived there so it was great to pass on this knowledge to others who were interested in the building and its past.”
