THE Rotary Club of Alloa presented young adult carer Anna Ridley with a cheque for £1000 – to help her travel across to Chile.
President Hector Nicolson handed it over follwing an informative talk by the Alva Academy pupil, on her background and the upcoming venture.
Jo McCorriston from Central Carers also gave a detailed presentation on charity and the support they give to young carers.
The money will assist Anna, from Menstrie, to undertake a 12-month placement in a school for disabled children and she is required to raise £6000 through her own endeavours to achieve her dream of helping disadvantaged children.
The Rotary Club of Alloa and Alloa Community Enterprises (ACE) worked together at various community events to fund raise for Anna.
ACE, under the leadership of managing director Malcolm McArdle, are now setting up a charity called ‘For Carers’ specifically to fundraise and assist young adult carers in Clackmannanshire with their personal and vocational development.
