ZERO Waste Scotland is offering funding to organisations who can help co-ordinate volunteer groups around Clackmannanshire to reduce waste, promote recycling and reuse as well as tackle food waste.
Community groups, environmental networks, student organisations, local authorities and third sector organisations can apply with projects, which need to be operational from July. Zero Waste Scotland plans to recruit more volunteers, who would be required to engage members of the public, pass on information and tips to help reduce waste.
Iain Gulland, chief executive of the government funded organisation, said: “We want to build on the success of our existing volunteers and get even more behind this grass-roots initiative, so we’re calling on organisations in Clackmannanshire to bid in now to help us with our mission.” Volunteer activities can involve cookery demonstrations, repair and “upcycling” workshops, major recycle events, talks or organising swap-shops.
Groups need to apply by Monday 18 May, an Applicant Workshop will take place on 7 May.
