Ochil Community Garden achieved a gold award and first place for its group pallet at the recent Royal Caledonian Society Pallet and Planter Competition at Ingliston’s Gardening Scotland.
The local garden’s planters also scooped a further two golds and four silvers earlier this month. The garden was developed to provide opportunities to experience practical gardening activities in a supported environment.
The project aims to promote physical activity and healthy eating through gardening and other activities surrounding the growing of plants and vegetables. The vegetables grown in the garden have been used in the Learning Disability Day Support Service Centre Space for cookery sessions.
Centre Space works in partnership with Menstrie Primary School both at the community garden and within the school garden. It also works with the Grow Wild Project, delivered by Alva Glen Heritage and Alva Community Council.
