COSTA Coffee is due to arrive in Clackmannanshire next month.

The doors to the new shop in the county are expected to open sometime early on in August.

The local branch will be located at the Sterling Mills Outlet Village in Tillicoultry.

It is said the move will bring with it around eight to 10 new jobs to the area.

A spokesperson for Costa said: “Costa, the nation’s favourite coffee shop brand are pleased to announce that we are opening a brand new store on Sterling Mills High Street, Tillicoultry in early-August, bringing 8-10 new jobs to the local area.

“As with all of our new store openings we will do all that we can to integrate ourselves with the local community, getting involved with events; providing the store as a meeting place and helping with fundraising.” The company has also recently submitted a planning application to Clackmannanshire Council seeking permission for an outlet in Alloa.

However, it said there are no “firm plans” for a town centre branch at the moment.

The spokesperson added: “As the UK’s favourite coffee shop and one of the success stories on the UK high street, we work closely with planning departments across the country to open new stores for the benefit of their local communities, creating new jobs and providing attractive and popular social meeting places.

“One of our franchise partners, a local business person to the area are currently evaluating opportunities in the High Street, Alloa area, but have no firm plans in place at this stage.” Costa, which was acquired by Whitbread in 1995, has various outlets across the UK and overseas.

It has more than 3000 stores in 30 countries.
