High Scorers Concert: On Thursday, 17 September 17, Beaconhurst hosted its annual High Scorers Concert. The pupils concerned had all had considerable success with recent music exams and this concert gave them the opportunity to showcase their hard work. As well as music pupils, a few who had success at LAMDA speech exams performed their scene. The evening was supported by some of the visiting instrumental staff.
Potato Harvest: On Monday, 14 September 14, the eco committee members from nursery, junior school and senior school dug up the potatoes they had been growing in the eco garden. There was a good crop and the eco group donated the potatoes to the cooking club.
Smile Please: On Thursday and Friday, Jim Mailer from Whyler Photos has been taking individual, family and group photographs from nursery through to senior six. A vast array of the extra-curricular clubs, sports and scholars have been running to a very tight schedule whilst we have captured everyone in the school.
The school will endeavour to let parents know when the photographs will be available for viewing and ordering.
International Dot Day: Last Tuesday, pupils from J1-J6 joined in the celebrations for International Dot Day. This event is staged to encourage people of all ages to harness their creativity. The inspiration behind the event is the children’s book The Dot by Peter H. Reynolds. It relates the tale of a teacher who challenges one of his female pupils to take courage in her abilities and from a dot on a page, the youngster goes on to make her mark.
Round Square Trip: Jack Haughton and Gregor Rodgers from S2 were accompanied by staff members  last weekend on a Round Square Conference visit to Derbyshire. This was another chance to meet with representatives from member schools and share their views and ideas surrounding the Round Square ideals.
Macmillan Coffee Morning: Parents, guardians and friends are invited to attend the Macmillan Coffee Morning on Friday,  September 25 from 10.30am-12 noon in the Cameron Hall. The school is looking for donations  which should be handed in to junior school on or before Friday morning. Everyone is reminded that the school is nut free and, where possible, a list of ingredients should be included with your baking.
Teambuilding: The start of term has seen a repeat of last year’s highly successful Junior School Teambuilding Programmes.  Each class has taken part in adventurous activities out of school but together as a class. Activities included bushcraft, gorge walking, rock climbing and canoeing.
