TEN pupils from Alloa, Alva and Lornshill Academies took part in the first Clackmannanshire Secondary Schools Ryder Cup Competition, hosted by Tillicoultry Golf Club.
The youngsters were split into two teams and competed as either Europe or USA during the event, which was organised by the club and the council’s sports development team.
Making up Europe was Ben King (Alloa Academy), Glen McKerracher, Bryce Clark, Lewis Clark (Alva Academy) and Ross Weston (Lornshill Academy), while Ross Logan, Greg Beattie (Alloa Academy), Daniel McKenzie, Callum Breignan (Alva Academy), Jamie McEwan (Lornshill Academy) played as USA.
Two groups of four took part in match play and both returned after nine holes all square and took a point each. 
The last two players went out and played against one another in the same match play format. 
This match was very competitive and Europe won and took the point. 
Overall, Europe won with two points and USA competed strongly to gain their one point.
Congratulations were extended to both teams who displayed some excellent golf skills. throughout the competition.
