Calling all former pupils: Are you a former pupil of Alloa Academy? The school would love to find out what you are doing now. Please get in touch by emailing cllchristie@glow.sch.uk to tell us and help us to inspire the students of today with your stories.

Learning Festival: Last Thursday the learning festival was held where pupils in primary seven came to the school to take part in activities designed and led by our S1 pupils. All P7 pupils seemed to enjoy their time here and the feedback was extremely positive.

Homework clubs: Homework club is for students in all year groups and will take place on Wednesday and Thursday afternoons from 3pm until 4pm. It is a great opportunity for all students to have a quiet space to work in and to get help from prefects with all kinds of homework. It is extremely useful to build the habits of doing homework and going over classwork at the end of the day and we hope that having these clubs will support our students to build positive habits.

Congratulations: Well done to all students who took part in the senior badminton tournament on Thursday. Gillian Reid and Thomas McCormack won bronze in the mixed doubles and Gillian and Erin Wick won silver in the girls’ doubles.

Open evening: Thanks to all parents and friends of the school who came to out open evening last Tuesday. There was a great buzz around the school from all those who toured, saw the demonstrations in science, technology, home economics, music and PE. Many of the photos taken on the evening have been tweeted (follow @AlloaAcademy) and a slideshow has been shown on the screens in school.

Marie Curie and The Gate: A total of over £500 was raised from the bake sale and non-uniform collection at the Disney Day. The collection is for Marie Curie. They also collected tinned food for The Gate and the total number of packs will be shared when known.
