FORTH Valley College"s Clackmannan Campus has a new woman at the helm - Gail Fertacz.
Gail was previously Head of Care, Social Sciences and Early Education, and has recently been leading on developments for the new Stirling campus.
She now takes up the position of Associate Principal for Curriculum, Quality & Learning Services with responsibility for Clackmannan Campus, succeeding Elaine Petrie, who has moved to Glasgow"s Central College to become depute principal.
Gail said, 'I am delighted to have been offered this role. It is a really exciting time for the college and the prospect of a new campus brings a great many opportunities for us and the wider community of Clackmannanshire.
'The area has changed dramatically in recent years with the arrival of the new rail line and now the new Clackmannanshire Bridge.
'Together with the college staff and senior management I hope to make the arrival of a new college campus another feather in the cap for Clackmannanshire. The new site is in the heart of the community and will bring 21st century educational opportunities to adults and young people in Clackmannanshire and the surrounding area. '
Gail has worked in Further Education for 25 years, starting out at Perth College where she became Associate Head of Faculty and Quality Manager before joining Moray College in 1998. She came to Clackmannan College in 2000 before becoming Head of School at Falkirk College in 2002.
Most recently she has combined her role as a head of a teaching department with that of Head of Stirling Developments. There she worked to raise the profile of the college in Stirling as the college"s plan for a new campus in the city take shape.
Linda McKay, Principal of Forth Valley College, said, 'Gail has led a high performing, large department at college and has been an active and outgoing member of the team for some time. She has proven her abilities in working on our Stirling development and in her work with the hospitality and leisure team in college.
'Now we have high hopes that she will bring the same drive and determination to Clackmannan Campus.'
Gail has two daughters, aged 21 and 22. She lives in Dalgety Bay, Fife, with partner Ray.
