A PUBLIC meeting has been organised for Tuesday night as Craigbank Primary"s Parent Council continues its fight against the council"s decision to axe a crossing patrol near the school.
And the issue was raised at this year"s Christmas Fayre, with flyers being handed out to publicise the meeting and articles from the Advertiser used to create a poster to highlight the campaign.
The meeting takes place at 7.45pm in Craigbank Primary School and Parent Council chairman Michael Payne hopes many people will turn up to express their anger and concern over the council"s decision.
Mr Payne told the Advertiser, 'This is an opportunity for the parents and carers of the children to ask local councillors questions and to voice their concerns, as well as being an opportunity for local councillors to explain the council"s position.'
Politicians who have indicated they will be attending the meeting are Ochil MSP Keith Brown, and councillors Janet Cadenhead, Sam Ovens and Gary Womersley. Provost Derek Stewart is unable to attend.
Jim Goodall, the council"s head of schools and quality improvement, is also expected to attend the meeting.
Mr Womersley told the Advertiser, 'I have been inundated with contacts from numerous constituents, not least at Saturday"s school fete.
'Their concerns range from how could the Labour administration push such a cut through without any consultation, to anger and disbelief at many previous comments attributed to Labour councillors and genuine anxiety over the welfare of their children.
'What the Labour councillors have failed to realise is that if you continually ignore the genuine concerns of constituents sometimes people fight back.
'Accordingly, I hope as many parents as possible turn up to get the current administration to reverse its decision in respect of Sauchie.'
The crossing near Craigbank primary School - at Greygoran and Newtonshaw - is one of 13 lollipop patrols being axed by the council as a cost-cutting measure.
