IT was a mixed bag of results for Clackmannanshire schools in the 2011 Forth Valley Cross Country competition.

While primary pupils struggled to make it on to the podium, Lornshill Academy and Alva Academy had better luck with a selection of students taking the top three positions in various races.

Around 100 pupils took part in the annual event held in Alloa's West End Park on Thursday.

The P7 girls race saw an all-county top three finish with Jessica Stitt (Alva) taking first place in 6 minutes 3 seconds, closely followed by Lauren Sadowski (Abercromby) then Eilidh Russell (Clackmannan).

The P7 boys race saw the only other Clackmannanshire podium standing with Shaun Connelly (Abercromby) taking third in 5 minutes 52 seconds - first going to Stuart Macnally (Balfron) in 5 minutes 14 seconds.
