TOTS at Alva Toddlers Group were learning the merits of being safe on their Road Safety Day.

Alva Primary School lollipop lady Jessie taught everyone how to cross the road and a circuit was set up so children could drive around in cars with a pelican crossing and traffic lights.

Walking with parents on pavements was practised, they talked of wearing bright clothing and children went home with reflectors for their bags and jackets.

Susan Fraser of the group said, "Our Road Safety Day was a huge success. We had around 35 children there all taking part in learning about being safe when using roads and pavements. We were really grateful to our local lollipop lady Jessie for coming along. She's quite the celebrity with the children as it's brilliant for them to get to know her before they start at the school.

That way they are all keen to go and cross the road with her when they are there. We also distributed information to the parents and carers about car seat safety and teaching children how to be safe on the roads."
