End of Term School closes at 3.40pm on Friday 4 April and the Summer Term will begin at 9.05am on Tuesday 22 April for all staff and students. Friday will be a non-uniform day. Pupils are asked to contribute 50p for the privilege of not wearing uniform for a day and this will be donated to charity.

SQA Examinations Details of the arrangements for study leave have been sent to the parents and carers of all S4, S5 and S6 students. Information can also be found on the school website. All S4, S5 and S6 have received details of arrangements for attendance at Easter revision classes and the programme of classes also can be found on the website. The school wish all seniors the best of luck.

Senior Award Ceremony This will begin at 2pm on Wednesday 23 April. Parents and carers of award winners will be invited to attend and letters will be sent home by Friday 4 April.

Lothian Equal Access Programme for Schools (LEAPS) Over 70 S5 students took part in one-to-one careers guidance interviews with LEAPS advisors last week. This activity is designed to help students with the preparation and research required for applications to post-school higher education courses.

Excursion The Faculty of English and Modern languages will lead a party of senior students to Stratford-Upon-Avon. The party leaves on Friday 4 April and will return on Sunday 6.

Kindrogan Field Trip This residential excursion for National 4/5 biology pupils took place over last weekend. The purpose of the trip was to develop a deeper understanding of learning in Biology.

Hospitality Exams The picture shows the Intermediate 2 Hospitality Class and their final dishes for assessment in SQA examinations. Well done to all.

Tutorial Competition The winner of the Tutorial Eco Bunny Competition, organised by Forebraes House, was D09. F06 came second and D12 was third after votes were cast by all tutor groups. The standard of all entries was very high. Congratulations and thanks to all for their efforts.

Open Days Open Days for associated primary schools were held last week, organised by the Faculty of Additional Support Needs as a feature of the school transition programme.

Year Group Assemblies Mr Wood and Mr McClure held assembly for all S4 students on Wednesday 26 March. The topic was study skills, including exam preparation and organisation of revision. All S2 pupils took part in an assembly on Tuesday 25 March when they were addressed by a representative of the Leprosy Mission and S3 students enjoyed a presentation by a representative of Nil-By-Mouth, an Anti-Sectarian Organisation based in Glasgow on Thursday 27 March.

Health Day All S1 pupils participated in a health day on Monday 31 March.

Sports News Well done to Sarah Hamilton S1 and Eilidh Russell S3 who took part in the Scottish Secondary Schools Cross Country Championships held at Irvine on Saturday 8 March. Both girls finished well in a highly competitive field. In Basketball, the Lornshill girls’ team put up a strong fight, doubling their points in the last minutes of the game, only to lose 32-28 to St Mungo’s, Falkirk. Well done to the team for their resilience and competitive spirit! On Thursday evening the senior girl’s football team participated in their final tournament as part of the Forth Valley League. The team won two games and lost one game. They played extremely well in the final game and beat Denny High School 1-0, the first time Denny High School have been beaten throughout the whole competition.

Bay of Naples Excursion Fundraising The winning raffle ticket for the hamper was Kalum Glennon of F01. Work Experience There is an opportunity for a work experience placement for any S4, S5 or S6 pupil who did not go on work experience in 2013. Several places are available and pupils should speak to Mrs Lowson at interval or lunch as soon as possible.

Maths Competition: Pi Day The overall winner of the Reciting Pi Competition was Casey Wotherspoon, 2G1. Brandon Lei, 1F13, was the Forebraes winner and took second place in the competition while Carrick Norman, 4D01 was the Devon winner and in third place overall. The winners of the finding Pi competition were Karl Bury 6D11 and Josh Carroll 2D14.

Easter Services School Easter services will take place this Thursday and a team of Chaplains will lead the services along with some young people. They wish everyone a happy and restful 2 week break.
