Clackmannanshire kids have been challenged to “give nature a home” to win free solar energy for their school.
Lightsource Renewable Energy has teamed up with the RSPB to launch a competition across the country in a bid to highlight the alarming decline in native wildlife habitats.
All Wee County pupils need to do is design a new-look bird nesting or bat roosting box that will be installed on solar farms around the UK.
The winning designers will also scoop free solar energy for their school – worth over £10,000.
Giving Nature a Home is the RSPB’s campaign, aimed at tackling the crisis facing Britain’s threatened wildlife. The charity is asking people to provide a place for wildlife in their own gardens and outside spaces – whether it’s by planting pollen-rich plants to attract bees and butterflies, putting up a nestbox for a house sparrow, or creating a pond that will support a number of different species.
