SCHOOLS across Clackmannanshire have been busy raising money for Children in Need.
Pupils, teachers and parents in the Wee County pulled together to support the BBC’s annual appeal which helps disadvantaged children and young people in the UK.
Councillor Ellen Forson, who is convenor of the council’s education, sport and leisure committee, said: “Congratulations to all the children who have taken part in Children in Need fundraising activities with such enthusiasm, raising impressive amounts of money and having lots of fun at the same time.” At Sunnyside Primary, classes organised fundraising events and activities – which included a bake sale, fun run, penny mile, obstacle course, face painting, popcorn and a dress-up day with a theme of ‘Be a Hero’ – and have raised £850 to date.
Menstrie raised a total of £470 through a onsie/PJ day and cake sale, while Strathdevon’s pupil council organised a dress-up day for nursery children and P1-7 pupils which raised over £300.
Clackmannan had a Pudsy raffle, showed a movie to all classes and sold popcorn, had a design a t-shirt competition for P4-7 and a colouring in Pudsey competition for P1-P3, which raised £580.
Over at Fishcross there was also a onsie/PJ day along with a Pudsy tuckshop, which raised £125.86, and a range of events were held at Coalsnaughton and Tillicoultry primaries and Tillicoultry’s nursery.
