YOUNGSTER Callum Watt has won this year’s MP Christmas card competition following a public vote last month.

Callum, a P3 pupil at Redwell Primary, was voted as the best entrant from all 18 finalists on display at Alloa Town Hall.

Almost 500 pupils submitted entries this year and MP Gordon Banks praised the quality of the competition.

“This was another year when the number and standard of entries from primary pupils across the Ochil and South Perthshire Constituency was just amazing, and I’m glad that I didn’t have to choose the winner.

“It was good to have the final round of the competition take place at the Autumn Fayre where everyone attending could have a vote to decide this.

“Congratulations to Callum Watt on his winning entry and to all the other finalists who did so well. My thanks go also to all the constituents who voted on the day.” Nine schools across the district each had two finalists with P6 student Katy Rankin representing Redwell along with winner Callum.

Sian Quinn and nursery pupil Catherine Sharkey were nominated from St Serf’s Primary, along with Maddy Watson (P6) and Jude Smutek (P6/7) from Fishcross Primary.

Blairingone Primary was represented by P6 pupils Finlay Anness and Joshua Davey, while Callum McKnight (P7) and Violet Maitland-Smith (P6) got the nod from St Bernadettes.

Other nominees included Georgi Dawson (P3) and Jack Taylor (P6) from Braco; Katie Simpson (P6) and Jamie Stewart (P5) from Abernethy; Eilidh Eadington (P6/7) and Calvin Chen (P3) from Abercromby; and Jenna Pool (P5) and Jayden Perry (P1/2) from Crieff.

All finalists received a certificate and a prize, and the winning design will now front the MP’s 2014 Christmas Card which is sent out to over 1000 individuals and businesses across the UK.
