MORE than 80 sporty youngsters braved the cold to put their running and biking skills to the test in a junior community duathlon.

They came from schools across Clackmannanshire and Stirling, to compete in the Beaconhurst Duathlon at Stirling University.

The competition involved a run followed by a bike ride and a second run and attracted children aged from eight to 16, including youngsters from Tillicoultry, Bridge of Allan and Dunblane Primaries and Wallace and Stirling High Schools, as well as pupils from Beaconhurst.

Children from sports clubs such as Stirling and Fusion Triathlon Clubs, Central Athletics and Wallace Warriors also took part.

Beaconhurst’s director of sport Judith Ramsay and PE teacher Kim Booth organised the competition with support from members of Stirling Triathlon Club and the help of senior Beaconhurst pupils who acted as marshals.
