Hospitality students from Forth Valley College recently catered for Scottish politicians when they cooked up the best of their cuisine at the kitchens of Holyrood.

Six students – Naiomi Carroll (HNC Professional Cookery), Josh Wilkinson (HNC Professional Cookery) Connor Stewart (Level 2 Professional cookery), Stacey McCormack, Damon Jarvis and Leah Fleming all City & Guilds Food and Beverage Level 2 – and hospitality lecturers Michal Tomaszewski and Martin Luti, were invited to take up the Further Education Parliament Placement in Edinburgh on Wednesday 25 February.

The group created a dinner menu which set MSPs’ mouths watering.

A Motion raised in Scottish Parliament last Monday (2 March) by Central Scotland MSP Margaret Mitchell congratulated students from the college on their “outstanding meals and service” when they took over the running of the Parliament’s Members’ Restaurant. The Motion went on to say that “guests in the restaurant that evening found the food to be of exceptionally high quality, delicious and beautifully presented and furthermore were extremely impressed by the service provided by the young people.” Michal Tomaszewski said: “Sodexo, who run the catering services at [Holyrood], have been inviting colleges across Scotland to send in teams of students and staff to experience the iconic building that is the Scottish Parliament. We cooked and served dinner for MSP’s. One of them was Bruce Crawford.” Chef lecturer, Martin Luti, said: “The students really enjoyed the experience of cooking and serving at the Scottish Parliament. They did really well and the feedback from the diners was very positive. We are all very proud of them.”
