Inter-House Competition The Inter-House Trophy was awarded to Bruce House last Thursday evening at the Junior Awards Ceremony. Well done to all who played a part in their House’s success.

The new competition is already under way and sports day totals will be added in. The sports days for the entire school were taking place last week including the much-requested return of the senior sports day.

S4 were involved in an extra-special event on Monday and Tuesday at Lornshill Academy.

Not only will this event be the house sports competition, it will also be the added value unit for National 4 and National 5 presentations.

Eco-News Despite the coldest May for 20 years Alloa Academy pupils have been hard at work propagating the raised beds at Tillicoultry Allotments.

The allotment project, now in its fifth year, is aimed at linking the curricular themes of health and well-being, sustainability and enterprise.

The school has gained the Royal Horticultural Society Gardens for Schools Award and is currently aiming for its Green Flag from Keep Scotland Beautiful.

Parent Council Monday was the last meeting of the Parent Council for this session.

After an informative session on E-safety from Kaye Hills and Anne Salter and a consultation on proposals for Abercromby Primary School, led by Iain McGhee, a presentation was made to Neil MacFarlane, the outgoing chairperson, and to David Wilson, long-time co-opted member.

Both of these men have given sterling service to the school over many years and they are due much gratutude for all that they have done.

New members for the Parent Council are urgently required – please look out for the date of the first meeting of the new session.

Charity News Several events in support of Nepal took place in the school last Thursday and Friday.

The staff soup and sandwich lunch was a big success as was the danceathon. Members of Interact also took part in a sponsored walk.

Junior Awards Ceremony The Junior Awards Ceremony took place on Thursday, 4 June, in the assembly hall. Thanks were extended to all who attended.
