VANDALS have obliterated the windows in an Alva store.

Broken glass littered the floors, covered clothes and a light fitting was smashed after bricks were thrown at Scotcrest on West Stirling Street.

Manager Tommy Johnson explained, “They have panned the windows in basically.” Vandalism has been a persistent problem for the local Scotcrest – which provides school uniforms, along with work wear and casual wear – over the last six months and it has been targeted around four times.

The building currently has missing glass panes, holes in windows and gaps boarded up.

The latest incident took place over the weekend of Saturday 27 and Sunday 28 September.

Tommy said, “The girl locked up the shop on the Saturday afternoon. So it was between Saturday afternoon and me coming in on the Monday morning.

“I drove up on the Monday morning about the back of seven and I just knew right away, I seen from the outside. They [the windows] were obliterated.” He added, “We are trying to build up and help the local community with their school uniforms, so they don’t have to go too far away. So it just frustrates me.” Police are looking into the crimes committed and are appealing for information.

A spokesperson said, “Police Scotland can confirm that enquiries are ongoing to trace those responsible for a number of attacks on these premises.

“We are appealing for anyone with any information to contact us on 101 or through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
