A man has been arrested by police in Clackmannan in connection with the robbery of a petrol station in Menstrie earlier this month.
Police deployed several officers and at least eight vehicles around the village this morning and the Advertiser understands armed cops were also in attendance when the man was taken into custody around 10am near Woodside Terrace.
A Police Scotland spokesman said: "As part of the ongoing investigation into the robbery at the Jet Petrol Station in Menstrie, a man has been detained in Clackmannan. Enquiries into this incident are ongoing."
Officers blocked off Erskine Place, which runs to Woodside Terrace, to cars and pedestrians and bystanders said residents were asked to stay indoors.
One witness said he recognised the man who has been arrested, but for legal reasons the Advertiser cannot name the person at this stage.
Several police vehicles were on standby near the junction at the Tower Hotel with an additional van towards the Marywood roundabout and another at the entrance to the woods.
