THE Alva mother charged with murdering her five-year-old son last year will appear at the High Court next month.

Farai Chiriseri (32) is accused of killing young Scott at their family home on 5 December 2014.

She is scheduled to attend a preliminary hearing at High Court in Glasgow next Tuesday (7 April) to face charges of murder and assault.

The case was first heard in private at Alloa Sheriff Court on 9 December.

On that day, Mrs Chiriseri, also known as Chirashi, was made subject to an assessment order under the mental health act.

She later underwent a treatment order as a result of her first brief appearance at Alloa Sheriff Court on 5 January.

The order was made to prepare Mrs Chiriseri for any trial she may face in relation to the charges.

It is understood that if any defence motion regarding her mental state at the time of incident is to be put forward, it would be done so next Tuesday.

Two days after her last court appearance, the funeral for former Alva Primary School pupil Scott was held in his home town.

Around 100 mourners came out to pay their respects to the youngster both during the service at Alva Parish Church in a number of tributes left outside his home on Carnaughton Place.

Then on 12 December - one week after Scott's death - dozens of mourners came together within the community for a mass balloon release in his memory.

Scott's classmates laid wreaths at the Christmas tree in Cochrane Park and as the whole community said their goodbyes.
