ALVA firefighter Stevie McCrorie will battle for the winning spot in The Voice this weekend.

Fans across Clackmannanshire demonstrated their support for the singer, when they turned out to welcome him back to Scotland on Monday (30 March).

They lined the streets with handmade posters and banners when he stopped by The Johnstone Arms in Alva as part of his homecoming trip, which included visits to his former school St Modan’s in Stirling and Beveridge Park in Kirkcaldy.

Followers were keen to take pictures and get autographs from Stevie, who was joined by his family, during his outing ahead of the finals on Saturday.

He took to Facebook and said: “It was insane at my old high school and my home town. Your support is unbelievable. I felt like I was in One Direction. Hysteria. Thank you all so much. Made me feel very good, to say the least.

“Farewell Scotland. Even if I don’t return the winner of The Voice, I feel like I have already won, especially after an out of this world experience today. You have made me feel so good, and it’s a memory I will treasure for the rest of my days. I can’t wait to show Bibi [his daughter] all this when she’s older. Love you all.” Stevie, who is originally from Denny, will go head-to-head with fellow contenders Sasha Simone, Emmanuel Nwamadi and Lucy O’Byrne, in a bid to be crowned winner of the BBC TV show.

The 30-year-old first discovered an interest in music when he was 14.

He has performed under names Mopp and Stevie and the Moon, and played T in the Park, The Wickerman Festival, The BBC Introducing Stage and supported the Bare Naked Ladies at the 02 Academy in Glasgow.

However, when little girl Bibi (2) came along he decided to focus on a different career and developed an interest in becoming a fireman.

Now part of the team in Kirkcaldy, he made some firm friends who ended up giving him the musical push he needed – by putting him in for The Voice.

Since his blind audition was aired in January – where he performed Kodaline’s All I Want – the dad-of-one has won over a legion of new fans.

He has continued to stun audiences as he made his way through the competition, with his renditions of songs such as Demons by Imagine Dragons, All Through The Night by Cyndi Lauper and Bleeding Love by Leona Lewis.

The winner of the show will be decided by public votes and the Wee County can get behind talented Stevie by tuning in.

Councillor Donald Balsillie has added his support, he said: “Thanks to Stevie for putting Alva and Clackmannanshire on the map in a positive way. Good luck and vote for Stevie.” Watch the final on BBC One at 7pm on Saturday (7 April).
