THANKS to the hard work of two dads and staff, children at Menstrie Nursery can now enjoy a new outdoor space - just in time for the fantastic weather.

Dads Gordon Pirrie and Neil Kenny spent their days off from their jobs, working to revamp an outdoor space at the nursery in the past months to giving the children a new area to enjoy.

The new outdoor area was officially opened today on glorious sunny afternoon, with the kids immediately taking the chance to explore what the new space has to offer.

Senior early years practitioner Elaine McMillan told the Advertiser: “It's been a beautiful day to open it, we've been so lucky.

“Two of the dads basically took out all the shrubs and bushes and tidied up the whole area. Then we contacted Beatsons and they supplied us with all of the materials at a discounted price and then the dads spent their time off creating an outdoor area for the children.”

The staff also helped out with Mrs Nimmo and Mrs Williamson deserving a special mention. The Parent Council chipped in with some money too – the development has been a real community effort.
