AN ALVA Academy pupil has been given the first grant from Youth Bank Clackmannanshire to purchase equipment to help him compete in trampoline competitions.

Ross Todd, from Dollar, received a grant of £122 and has now set his sights on the British NDP regional trampoline finals in Birmingham and Telford.

Youth Bank Clackmannanshire launched this year after receiving funding from the Coalfields Regeneration Trust. It allows for the awarding of grants to individuals and groups from the Wee County.

Members of the Youth Council attended training to enable them to identify criteria, assess applications and allocate grants.

The Youth Council were able to match fund the Coalfields Regeneration Trust grants to enable them to provide financial support to both individuals and groups from any area in Clackmannanshire.

The committee currently has vacancies would welcome input from enthusiastic young people aged 14-25.

Meanwhile, the Youth Bank is looking for energetic people aged 12 -25 to develop and market the youth bank and sit on the panel to assess applications and award grants to successful applicants.

Involvement in any of these groups can contribute to Duke of Edinburgh, Youth Achievement, Dynamic Youth and Saltire Awards.
