THE festive season kicks off in Alva later this month with the Christmas lights switch-on and fayre.
Alva Community Council is hosting the event at the Cochrane Hall from 12.30pm on Saturday, November 26.
There will be an array of delightful stalls with gifts and crafts from Wee County groups and businesses, providing an ideal opportunity to pick up a few stocking fillers for all the family.
The community council said entry to the hall would be free and encouraged all families to come along for the day.
A spokesperson said: “The Christmas Fayre will bring a warm glow for the community and lots of smiling faces in anticipation of the festive season.
“We hope that Santa and his elves may be able to visit; there will be a grotto ready for him, just in case, so children (and adults) will be able to tell Santa what they’d like for Christmas.”
There will be festive music, singing, face painting, tombola, and a lucky dip, with a refreshment area serving hot and cold drinks and delicious cakes.
Then at around 4pm, there will be the ceremonial switching on of the Christmas lights on the tree in the park adjacent to the hall.
Anyone who would like to have a stall at the fayre can collect an application form from Higglety Pigglety on Main Street or download one from alvacommunitycouncil.org.uk
