A WEE COUNTY man will face go on trial this summer after being charged with sexually assaulting a young girl.

The case against the 67-year-old called at Alloa Sheriff Court on Monday where his lawyer, Claire McCarron, tendered a plea of not guilty to his crimes.

According to court documents, the girl was just four-years-old when the assault took place.

It is alleged that the man, who lives on Queen Street, Alva, sexually assaulted the young girl between June 21 and August 31 of last year by placing his hand on her thigh and repeatedly rubbing it up and down.

His second charge states that he caused fear or alarm by directing a sexually explicit comment towards her on Main Street, Alloa.

The accused did not personally appear in the dock earlier this week as his attendance was excused.

However, his trial date has been set down for July 17 when he will appear.

He has also been told to attend an identity parade before then.
