THE new home for Clackmannan Post Office has been given the stamp of approval.

A Post Office ‘local’ service will open at A & T Stores, 2 Lochies Road, Clackmannan, FK10 4EL – launching on Wednesday 18 February at 1pm – and will be provided from two open-plan combination counters in the store, where the Post Office terminals will sit alongside the retail till.

Post Office services will be available during the store’s opening hours, 7am-7pm Monday to Saturday and 8am-4pm Sunday, and local residents and small business customers will be able to access a wide range of Post Office services during the extended opening hours, including special delivery, local collect, home shopping returns, online banking cash deposits and withdrawals.

Suzanne Richardson, regional manager, said: “We are making it easier for customers to get their cash, send and collect their mail and do their banking because we know how important these services are to local residents.

“We are confident that this vibrant new-style Post Office at the heart of the community will meet customer needs.

“This modernisation is part of a major investment programme, the largest in the history of the Post Office and will secure services for the future. The investment marks a commitment to no more branch closure programmes.” Other services will include withdrawals using a Post Office Card Account, sending funds abroad using Moneygram, and customers can pay bill, pre-order travel money, apply for travel insurance and top up mobile phones.

The opening hours which will increase by an extra 34 hours a week, will make the branch more convenient, as people will have more choice of when they can visit.

The present Clackmannan Post Office at 61 Main Street will close at 1pm on Wednesday 18 February when the service will transfer to the new branch.
