THE Wee County marked the first Armed Forces Day on Monday by raising a flag to mark the occasion outside Alloa Town Hall.
Soldiers from the Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders attended the ceremony, together with the county"s Lord Lieutenant Sheena Cruickshank, Ochil MSP Keith Brown, local councillors, Provost Derek Stewart and Clackmannanshire Council"s chief executive Angela Leitch.
Mrs Cruickshank had the honour of raising the flag.
Mr Brown, a forces veteran himself, told the Advertiser he had been proud to particpate in the event.
He said, 'I was delighted to offer my support to this ceremony, held as part of the celebrations for the first ever Armed Forces Day in Scotland on 27 June.
'Events like this are vital to raise the awareness of the work of the armed forces both past and present.
'I hope that Armed Forces Day will become an annual event here in Clackmannanshire and we will continue to recognise the contribution made by our men and women in uniform.'
