PLANS to build almost 30 homes on part of the old Tullis Factory site in Tullibody are to go ahead despite concerns from residents.

Kingdom Housing Association will move forward with construction of 27 houses on the land beside Delph Road, once occupied by the tannery.

Tullibody, Cambus and Glenochil Community Council complained that, while there was consultation, its concerns were ‘ignored’.

Chair Janette McGowan, told Thursday’s Planning Committee, “If the community’s views were heard and included it could result in a much more acceptable development for everyone.” A total of 30 neighbours were notified of the planning application and 14 households in Delph Road objected to the development.

The plans will see residents lose access to the unadopted road (created to serve a business development that fell through) which links with Alloa Road. It means some neighbours will be unable to use wheelie bins for rubbish collection – with planners suggesting they revert to bin bags, despite fears this will lead to a rise in vermin.

Councillors unanimously approved the plans subject to various conditions including the creation of fencing around the SUDS (Sustainable Urban Drainage Systems) pond to prevent access by children or adults.
