Clackmannanshire Council’s annual Youth Celebration event was held at Alloa Town Hall earlier this month.

On Thursday (6 November) young people aged 8 to 22 from all over Clackmannanshire attended the event with family and friends in to celebrate their achievements with a range of awards and certificates.

Education convener and councillor Ellen Forson, who presented awards and certificates beside Provost Tina Murphy, Robert Walters from CTSi and assistant head of education Kevin Kelman, was happy to be part of the event.

She said: “I was delighted to be involved in presenting the awards at this annual ceremony, celebrating the achievements of young people. The awards showcase the talent and commitment of young people in Clackmannanshire.” The awards presented included Junior Challenge, Dynamic Youth, Youth Achievement, First Aid, Saltire Awards, Clackmannanshire Youth Timebank and John Muir.

This year saw the introduction of service awards for staff and volunteers with the longest service award going to May Graham for her 30-plus years of service in Clackmannanshire.

There was live music on the evening provided by young people from the Sound Space Studio. Amy Knox, Charlene Docherty and Carla Dickson and Jamie Shanks, a young up-and-coming DJ, made sure the guests were entertained throughout the evening.
