A PERVERT from Alloa who was involved in the production of child porn has been sentenced to nine months in prison.
Twenty-one-year-old Marc Williamson appeared on indictment at the town's sheriff court on Thursday and admitted charges of taking, making or permitting the taking of indecent photographs of children at his home on Bridge Terrace between 22 February and 23 June this year.
Williamson also pled guilty to a charge of being in possession of indecent photographs of children at the same address on 23 June.
His solicitor, Mr Addison, said it had been clear his client, who was on probation for a similar previous conviction, was bound to be caught when police officers arrived at his home on 24 June to check his computer.
Following the discovery of the pictures, Williamson was held in custody at Barlinnie Prison.
Mr Addison said, "He presents himself as someone who is a high risk of re-offending but in no way is he a danger to the public, his offences are committed in his own home."
The solicitor added, "His restriction of liberty has been a terrifying time for him and he has not felt able to move around the prison.
"He still has a promising university career and there is no doubt that he is extremely remorseful for what he has done."
Sheriff David Mackie told Williamson the photographs he viewed was at the "higher end of the scale".
Shriff Mackie went on, "The fact you are an intelligent person means you should be able to see the abuse of the children you use is much more than private.
"Custody is the appropriate disposal for this due to the public disgust."
Williamson was told his punishment would have been 12 months but for his early plea and sentence was backdated to 24 June, when he was first placed in custody. Williamson has also been placed on the sex offenders register for 10 years.
