TWO men who were caught with a stash of drugs after they were stopped by police appeared for sentence at Alloa Sheriff Court on Thursday.
Stuart Campbell (24), of Woodlea Gardens in Sauchie, previously pled guilty to being in possession of cannabis on 19 December last year at Fairfield Road in Sauchie.
Whilst his co-accused Steven Muirhead (26), of Hareburn Road in Tillicoultry, admitted being in possession of cannabis resin, the class A drug cocaine and the class B drug amphetamine on 20 September last year also at Fairfield Road in Sauchie and withdrew guilty pleas to being in possession of ecstasy and possession of ecstasy with intent to supply.
Fiscal depute Jim Graham told the court that officers were on mobile patrol in an unmarked police car and they stopped their car at the locus just as another car, which Campbell was a passenger in, pulled into a layby.
Muirhead was then seen walking towards the locus and when he saw Campbell in the car shouted "do you have any coke", before walking to a nearby shop where he was joined by Campbell.
Due to the comment police decided to search the accused and the vehicle and discovered £20 worth of cannabis, in the rear passenger foot well of the car 125 grammes of cannabis resin worth £600, 12.89 grammes of amphetamine worth £140, and 0.699 grammes of cocaine.
Sheriff David Mackie fined Campbell £150 and ordered Muirhead to complete a four month Restriction of Liberty Order, imposing a curfew between 8pm and 6am, saying that by no longer pleading guilty to possession of ecstasy and possession with intent to supply it changed the sentencing options considerably.
