A COALSNAUGHTON man has been fined and ordered to pay compensation after going on a wrecking spree in his mother's house and shouting anti-English abuse at her partner.
On Thursday, Sean Neville (22), of Main Street, appeared at Alloa Sheriff Court and pled guilty to recklessly damaging property belonging to another at Riverside View, Alloa, on 9 January this year. He further admitted acting in a racially aggravated manner by shouting racist remarks and causing alarm and distress.
Fiscal depute Gillian Taylor told the court the accused arrived at his mother's home and after he was granted entry she noticed he was under the influence of alcohol or some other substance.
Neville banged through the door, stumbled along the hall and knocked over a cup of coffee. The woman tried to stop Neville going into the hallway but he pushed past and broke a baby gate. The accused then staggered down the hallwayand threw a picture frame causing it to smash.
He then started shouting at his mother's partner saying "I hate you, you English pr*ck and I'm going to kill you". He continued to shout and swear which Ms Taylor said caused the witness to feel terrified.
A wooden door was extensively damaged after Neville repeatedly headbutted and kicked it and he punched his hands through a plasterboard wall. Neville then broke the house's intercom system and pulled an interior door off its hinges.
Before police arrived Neville had cracked the television by throwing a table at it and smashed a mobile phone. Neville was sitting on the couch when police officers arrived. An estimated £1550 of damage was caused in the ruckus.
Liam Robertson, Neville's solicitor, said it was unpalatable conduct that could not be tolerated in the community, adding that his client had been kept in prison over the weekend as a result of his behaviour.
Mr Robertson went on to say that while a custodial sentence may have been on Sheriff David Mackie's mind by way of a punishment, Neville now seemed to be getting his life in order and was holding down a job.
Sheriff Mackie ordered Neville to pay the full £1550 compensation for the damage he caused and fined him a further £350.
