A KINCARDINE man who took part in lewd and indecent practices involving two young girls has been placed on the sex offenders register for three years.

Christopher Baird (35), of Landsdow Crescent, previously admitted using lewd, indecent and libidinous practices and behaviour towards a 14-year-old girl between 1 November and 12 December 2009, compelling her to watch a 16-year-old female perform oral sex on him.

He also admitted using lewd and libidinous practices towards a 12-year-old girl between the same dates, engaging the girl in sexualised conversation, touching her on the thigh, on the top of her clothing and inviting her to watch the 16-year-old girl performing oral sex on him.

Baird's solicitor said that although his client hadn't been diagnosed with a learning difficulty he had an extremely low level of intelligence.

The solicitor added that Baird accepted the offences but couldn't readily understand the implications of his actions.

Sheriff William Gilchrist sentenced Baird to three years probation, and ordered him to attend a community sexual offenders group work programme and that he have no access to children under 16.

Sheriff Gilchrist said, "These are serious offences although I accept they are at the low end of the indictment scale.

"It is clear from the report that there is a risk you will repeat that behaviour and that needs to be addressed.

"I am satisfied that this can be dealt with by engaging a probation order."
