DOLLAR Academy pupils have reached the final of the Scottish Association of Geography Teachers Worldwise Quiz.
The school had two teams competing in this year’s competition. Both finished in the top four of their heats and progressed to the local final. Team A then went on to win, impressing everyone with their detailed knowledge of the wide range of topics they had studied.
Their challenges included the geography of Australia, airlines and airports, islands of Scotland, and being given unusual clues for famous cities which they then had to identify.
Dollar’s Team A consisted of Lucy Hulbert (FIV), Darwin Douglas (FIII) and Samer Awad (FI). Team B featured Duncan Lennon (FIV), Lachlan Peterson (FIII) and Toby Douglas (FI).
The commitment and enthusiasm of the pupils involved has been highly commended.
Lucy, Darwin and Samner are currently polishing up on their knowledge of geographical facts in preparation of the SAGT final, which will be held at Dollar Academy on Tuesday 25 March.
