AN Alloa man caught with MDMA didn’t know what he was taking.
As reported in the Advertiser previously, Ian Donald (28) represented himself against the accusation that he was found with methylenedioxymethamphetamine (MDMA) at an address in the town’s Harris Court on 25 May 2013.
The case was continued without plea to give Donald, of Broad Street, time to speak to a lawyer.
On Monday (24 March) at Alloa Sheriff Court the accused pled guilty.
Fiscal depute Susannah Hutchison stated that Donald was found with the substance after he was searched by officers following reports that two men had knives.
He reportedly told police at the time, “It’s a wee bit of speed.” Unfortunately for Donald it wasn’t the Class B amphetamine, but was instead £20 worth of the Class A MDMA.
Defending, Alistair Burleigh said his client admitted to being in possession of a drug - just not the one he thought.
Sheriff Duguid fined Donald £100.
