A TRAINEE doctor is to face trial accused of rubbing himself indecently in the presence of an elderly female patient at Forth Valley Royal Hospital.
Benjamin Yong is alleged to have conducted himself in a disorderly manner while attending upon the old lady as a medical practitioner, at the NHS Forth Valley facility in Larbert.
The single charge against him alleges that, on 24 March at the hospital, he did repeatedly rub his groin and genitals in an indecent manner, over his clothing, in the presence of, and in the sight of, the 73-year-old patient.
Yong, a Dundee University medical school graduate, was working at the hospital as a junior doctor when the offence is said to have occurred.
At Falkirk Sheriff Court last Wednesday (18 June), Yong (28), of Castings Court, Falkirk, pleaded not guilty to breach of the peace.
Trial was set for 21 August, with a preliminary hearing on 13 August.
A spokeswoman for NHS Forth Valley said, “We can confirm that a junior doctor, who was undertaking a short training placement with NHS Forth Valley, has been suspended.”
