AN ALLOA teen has been given a community payback order after admitting to theft and attempting to pervert the course of justice.
Michael Douglas (18), of Lewis Court, admitted to stealing a mobile phone from a house in Alloa on 10 September 2014.
He then lied to police when questioned three days later, giving his name as Ian Douglas in order to avoid prosecution in his real name.
Kelly Howe, defending, said: “Mr Douglas has a bit of a record but he has expressed remorse and said he was embarrassed by his actions.” Sheriff Kenneth McGowan sentenced Douglas at Alloa Sheriff Court on Thursday (October 23), requiring him to carry out 120 hours of unpaid work over the next three months.
The sentence was reduced from 160 hours following his early plea.
Sheriff McGowan added: “Failure to comply with this order will result in the matter being reviewed in court with all sentencing options on the table at that time.”
