A NUMBER of Glenochil prisoners were called before Alloa Sheriff Court on Monday, 19 January.

Two appeared charged with assaulting another man at the Clacks jail on 19 September 2014.

A 31-year-old man pleaded not guilty to the offence while his co-accused, a 26-year-old, made no plea before Sheriff Eric Brown.

The two men are accused of punching the victim on the head, causing him to fall, and repeatedly punching and kicking him on the head and body.

The younger man is to re-appear on 16 February to make a further plea while a trial date has been set for 16 June for the other accused.

Meanwhile, two other inmates appeared charged with beating another man with makeshift weapons during an incident on 13 April 2014.

Both pleaded not guilty to striking him on the head and body with pool balls, punching and kicking him on the head and body and striking him on the head with a mug, all to his injury.

The incident is alleged to have taken place on 13 April 2014.

Both men are to re-appear for another pre-trial hearing on 26 January with a trial date set for 3 February.

Also, another prisoner appeared charged of causing damage to a cell at HMP Glenochil.

The 42-year-old made no plea to the allegations of damaging the wall of the cell and its contents on 26 June 2014.

A further pleading diet has been set for 16 February.
