A PENSIONER has appeared at court charged with making abusive remarks towards staff at Dollar Academy.

The 70-year-old, who is a resident of the upmarket village, maintained his plea of not guilty during a pre-trial hearing at Alloa Sheriff Court on Monday (23 February).

He is accused of behaving in a threatening and abusive manner and failing to adhere to his bail conditions, preventing him from corresponding further with the school.

Between 19 May 2014 and 2 June 2014, he is alleged to have sent a letter containing a threatening remark while also making a number of telephone calls in which he made other threatening remarks.

Then between 14 June and 23 June, he allegedly broke the court order which banned him from contacting the school.

He was due to face trial on 10 March but it has been postponed due to legal aid issues. A new trial date has since been set for 28 April with a further pre-trial hearing on April 13.
