A FLURRY of knife-related prosecutions were brought before Alloa Sheriff Court this week.

Among the many cases heard on Monday (8 June) were four separate allegations of knife-possession and disorder.

First up was a Sauchie man who will face trial later this month on charges of domestic assault and possession of a knife.

At a hearing at Alloa Sheriff Court on Monday (8 June), the 27-year-old denied attacking the woman at his home address by repeatedly seizing her by the throat and clothing.

He also maintained his not guilty plea to, without reasonable excuse, being in possession of a bladed instrument, namely a knife, on the same occasion.

The incident is alleged to have taken place on 24 February of this year.

The accused was re-admitted to bail and will return to Alloa Sheriff Court on 22 June for trial.

Another man, also from Sauchie, appeared before Sheriff Linda Smith this week charged with threatening his partner with a kitchen knife.

The 30-year-old denies the domestic assault, alleged to have taken place at his home address on 11 January 2015.

He is accused of attacking his partner by pushing her on the body, causing her to strike a door, before uttering threats of violence whilst holding the knife.

His case was continued to the trial date on 15 June.

Meanwhile, the trial of an Alloa man accused of acting aggressive while brandishing a knife has been set down for later this month.

The 50-year-old has denied behaving in a threatening and abusive manner by shouting, acting aggressively and brandishing the weapon at a property on Argyll Place on 28 January of this year.

It is further alleged that he also damaged property by smashing a window during the same incident.

The accused will re-appear for his trial on 24 June.

And finally, a Sauchie teen will face his trial today after pleading not guilty to acting in a threatening manner while armed with a knife.

The 18-year-old appeared before Sheriff Smith on two public order allegations and a further charge of breaking the terms of his bail.

It is alleged that on 5 April on Baingle Crescent in Tullibody, the youngster was, without reasonable excuse, in possession of a bladed instrument, namely a knife.

He is further charged with repeatedly shouting and brandishing the weapon and with breaking his bail conditions not to enter the street or contact a named individual.

The accused denied the three charges and will re-appear this morning.
