A TILLICOULTRY man has denied three counts of attacking his former partner, a court has heard.

The 31-year-old appeared at Alloa Sheriff Court on Monday (8 June) on five separate charges over a period of more than two years.

He stands accused of three assaults against his ex-girlfriend at her Coalsnaughton home, along with one stalking charge and another accusation of acting in a threatening or abusive manner.

It is alleged that on 2 December 2011 he assaulted the woman by attempting to seize a mobile phone from her person before elbowing her on the head, to her injury.

He is further accused assaulting her between 3-31 December 2011 by seizing her by the body and throwing her onto the bed, to her injury.

Between 1 February 2012 and 31 March 2012, he is accused of kicking her on the body, again to her injury.

The charge also alleges that between 1 March 2013 and 31 December 2013 he did act in a threatening and abusive behaviour on the M9 near Linlithgow in that he shouted, swore, utter offensive remarks and ‘gesticulated’.

He is also charged with stalking his former partner by repeatedly sending her texts containing offensive remarks, and unwanted romantic advances and comments; uttering threats of violence and repeatedly refusing to stop when requested; before falsely claiming to Clackmannanshire Council that his former partner was committing council tax fraud.

He maintained his plea of not guilty in respect of all five allegations and his trial has been delayed until 17 June.
