A STIRLING man has appeared in court this week charged with trying to head butt a police officer in Tullibody last year.

The 22-year-old, from the Fallin area, maintained his plea of not guilty to the assault charge, as well as another allegation of threatening and abusive behaviour.

He is accused of trying to head butt the constable on 27 September 2014 at Glen Kinchie in Tullibody.

And during the journey in a police vehicle towards Stirling Police Office it is alleged he did shout, swear, challenge police officers to fight and utter threats of violence.

The accused denied the two charges when he appeared at Alloa Sheriff Court on Monday (8 June).

He will re-appear next Monday (15 June) for trial.

A KINCARDINE postie denied stealing parcels while on duty, Alloa Sheriff Court heard.

The 41-year-old appeared before Sheriff Linda Smith on Monday (8 June) charged with failing to deliver a number of postal packets and keeping them for herself.

She denied the allegations, said to have taken place between 5 October 2011 and 7 June 2013.

A trial date has been set down for 17 June at Alloa Sheriff Court.

AN ALLOA man has denied assaulting a woman at his home address earlier this year.

The 46-year-old carrying out the attack when he appeared before Sheriff Linda Smith at Alloa Sheriff Court on Monday (8 June).

It is alleged that on 14 March he did utter offensive remarks and threats of violence to the woman, shout at her, strike her on the head with his hand, pursue her, seize her by the neck, push her on the body, and repeatedly attempt to seize her on the body.

The court papers also indicate he had been bailed by Alloa Sheriff Court just weeks before the alleged incident took place.

The accused maintains his plea of not guilty and will re-appear for trial on 23 June.

A STIRLING man has appeared in Alloa Sheriff Court this week charged with stalking his wife.

The 34-year-old denied the charge before Sheriff Linda Smith on Monday (8 June) and a trial date has been set down for later this month.

It is alleged that between 8 November 2014 and 13 January 2015, at a property in Tillicoultry, he did engage in a course of conduct likely to cause the woman to suffer fear and alarm and did strike her on the head with his hand, repeatedly contact her by telephone and use abusive and threatening language towards her.

The accused will re-appear for trial on 23 June.

AN ALVA man is to be placed under court-ordered supervision after assaulting a woman in his home in January last year.

Andrew Doyle (37), of Caroline Crescent, was found guilty of the attack during a trial before Sheriff Linda Smith earlier this year.

On 14 January 2014, he did seize his victim by the hair, pull her to the ground, kneel on her head and body and repeatedly strike her on the head, to her injury.

He was also found guilty of behaving in a threatening and abusive manner by shouting, swearing and uttering abusive remarks.

Doyle was handed a community payback order of two years’ supervision with a concomitant requirement to attend a domestic abuse programme as directed.

A review hearing has been set down for 9 October to examine his progress on the order.

A SAUCHIE care home worker has appeared at Alloa Sheriff Court this week charged with assaulting a resident earlier this year.

The 51-year-old denied the offence when he appeared before Sheriff Linda Smith on Monday (8 June).

It is alleged that on 28 January 2015 at the Hillview Court Nursing Home, Whiteyetts Crescent, the accused, while acting in the course of his employment, did assault the male resident, a person under his care, and did punch him on the head, to his injury.

Having maintained his plea of the not guilty, the case was continued to the trial date set down for 22 June.

A SAUCHIE man has denied a charge of claiming unentitled benefits, Alloa Sheriff Court has heard.

The 48-year-old appeared before Sheriff Linda Smith on Monday (8 June) when he denied an offence under the Social Security Administration Act.

It is alleged that between 19 December 2012 and 25 June 2014 he did knowingly fail to give prompt notification to the DWP of a change in his circumstances which he knew affected his entitlement to Income Support, Housing and Council Tax benefits.

The complaint says the accused acquired capital in excess of the upper limit of £16,000 and did therefore obtain £7,704.98 in unentitled benefits.

After maintaining his plea of not guilty, the case was forwarded to the trial date set down for 24 June.

A MAN has appeared at Alloa Sheriff Court this week charged with threatening to assault others with a metal dog chain.

The 27-year-old denied that allegation said to have taken place on 9 January of this year at a property in Alloa.

It is alleged he behaved in a threatening and abusive manner by shouting, swearing, acting aggressively and threatened to strike others with the weapon.

He appeared before Sheriff Linda Smith on Monday (8 June) and denied the charge. He will re-appear next Monday (15 June) for trial.

A GLENOCHIL inmate has denied assaulting two prison guards in the Clacks jail last year.

The 30-year-old appeared at Alloa Sheriff Court on Monday (8 June) where he maintained his plea of not guilty.

It is alleged that on 16 October 2014 he assaulted one man during the course of his employment and did strike him on the body with this hand before spitting on the body of another SPS employee.

The accused faces another charge of behaving in a threatening and abusive manner by shouting and swearing.

A trial date has been set down for 23 June.
