A CLACKMANNAN man has appeared in court this week charged with attempting to hold up Timpson’s repair shop in Alloa last week.

The 20-year-old also faces a number of allegations of trespassing with intent to steal just hours after being released from custody.

It is alleged the youngster entered the Mill Street shop on Wednesday afternoon before demanding money from the assistant.

He was later traced by police near to the town’s Tesco supermarket an was placed under arrest.

It was expected that he would appear from custody at Alloa Sheriff Court but it transpired that he was liberated with the case remaining under consideration.

However, within a matter of hours, he was arrested again by offcicers for a “series of incidents in Tillicoultry” during the early hours of Friday (July 3).

He then appeared in private at Alloa Sheriff Court on Monday (6 July) on all charges, including the incident the previous Wednesday.

According to the Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service, he faces two counts of attempted robbery and three counts of trespassing with intent to steal.

The accused made no plea or declaration and was committed for further examination.

He was remanded in custody and will appear for a full committal hearing on Monday (13 July).

A Police Scotland spokeswoman confirmed: “A 20 year old man was arrested in the early hours of Friday (3rd July) following a series of incidents in Tillicoultry. He was charged with three counts of attempted robbery and related offences.”
